| MISSION | |
| USTRANSCOM Intermodal Programs and Infrastructure Division is the command focal point for assessing and evaluating strategic mobility capabilities, long-range programs, requirements and priorities. Responsible for monitoring, assessing, and developing proactive national defense options to ensure DOD strategic lift capability based on trends in the civil sector and industrial base relative to air, sea and land transportation. Recommends policies, procedures, and programs to ensure USTRANSCOM and DOD air, sea and surface lift requirements are met. Assesses DOD scenario and operation plans lift capability and movement to develop strategic mobility requirements. Assesses and recommends policies for compatibility and interoperability of DOD organic resources and facilities to ensure adequate capability exists to meet military contingencies and national emergencies. Serves as command focal point and supports command participation at National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) Military Airlift, Military Sealift, and Surface Transportation Committee meetings and functions. Serves as command focal point for the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB). Supports DOD-directed studies and represents DOD at appropriate forums. Command focal point for transportation related issues impacting service transformation efforts including key interim force platform execution and national laboratories, universities, and federally-funded research and development (R&D) centers, both foreign and domestic, to enhance force projection. Command focal point for opportunities associated with student and faculty research at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Service command staff and war colleges, and Service academies. | |

Intermodal and Infrastructure Branch - (TCJ5/4-II). The Intermodal Programs and Infrastructure Branch fulfills its mission through three subordinate groups - the Intermodal Team, the Infrastructure Team, and the Joint Petroleum Office. The Intermodal Team manages and promotes the Joint Intermodal Container Program. The Infrastructure Team assesses DOD needs regarding intermodal transportation infrastructure (airfield, seaports, rail, highway, etc.). The Joint Petroleum Office determines petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) requirements to support the commands global transportation mission. Intermodal Programs Branch - (TCJ5/4-IP). The Intermodal Programs Branch fulfills its mission through two subordinate groups - the Airlift Branch and the Sealift Branch. The Airlift Branch is the Command focal point for policy and responsible for oversight and initiatives to promote long-term viability of the Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF). The Sealift Team Provides program guidance on composition, sitting, maintenance, and readiness standards for the Ready Reserve Force (RFF) and MSC surge fleet vessels. | |
