SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. – U.S. Transportation Command’s Intelligence Directorate participated in the national "Take Your Child to Work Day" April 26.

"Our directorate is not only mission oriented but also family oriented,” said Andrea Sanderson. “And we wanted to participate in our own way in the national event.

“Our mission is unique as a Joint Information Operations Center Transportation and as USTRANSCOM-J2,” Sanderson continued. “It is a special occasion to have the daughters and sons of our employees enjoy learning what their parent does and how it connects with our global military mission.

During the event children received a tour of select USTRANSCOM areas and displays before visiting parent’s work stations.

The day ended with a visit from USTRANSCOM Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. Kathleen M. Gainey.

COMMENTS
"I certainly thought it was well advertised to the TCJ2 community. It was well organized and truely professional. I would like to thank everyone that made this happen for our children!"
"It would have been nice if other directorates had planned something similar or if this had been an option for the whole Command My son would have loved this."
"This event was not well advertised. I would have loved to participate with my child."
"What a great idea...and from what I've read, well done! Would love to see a USTC-wide version of this day next year...maybe coupled with the USTC family picnic?"
"Perhaps the other directorates will plan something similar to this in the future. It is a great moral booster and the children really did enjoy it....it was a great learning experience for them."
