SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. – Members of the U.S. Transportation Command Navy element Morale, Welfare and Recreation committee held a two-hour ice cream social, July 25, in the break room of Building 1900 West.  Sailors from around the command dished out frozen treats to USTRANSCOM military and civilian workers on one of the hottest days of the year.

COMMENTS
"mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......ice cream"
"Agree with Taxpayer: The ice cream social was held during the lunch hour and to the best of my knowledge, all personnel who worked the ice cream social rotated through during their lunch breaks. Sailors came and went and did not miss any official duty."
"HooYAH! Way to go, Shipmates!"
"Does the Public Affairs comment mean that personnel serving ice cream were on leave (leave charged), not scheduled for duty (regularly schedule day off from 40 hour work week), or if civilian employees were they not receiving hourly pay (time cards appropriately noted) for serving ice cream instead of performing official duties?"
"Social Events are typically supported by a booster clubs who buy the provisions with donations they have collected. I think this event was a fund raiser for the Navy Ball."
"No taxpayer money was used. The event was self-supported by those who participated."
"Is this what my taxes are paying for?"
